Electrical Engineer - Power System Studies
We are looking for a Power System Studies Engineer with 2 years of experience to join our Power System Studies team. The ideal applicant is familiar with Transmission System design ideas and analyses, such as Transmission Interconnection Studies, Reactive Power Compensation, Short Circuit (Fault) Analysis, Circuit Breaker Rating Analysis, and system modelling tools.

Principal Responsibilities
Engineering Requirements:
Continues to learn and is up to date on departmental design guidelines, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Black and Veatch policies and procedures.
As applicable, applies to assigned duties.
Quality Assurance/Continuous Improvement:
Continues to learn and adheres to the Black and Veatch quality programme in relation to assigned assignments.
Helps in continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
Engineering Manufacturing:
Preparation and verification of less difficult engineering deliverables
Conducts research and makes recommendations for the selection of equipment and/or materials.
Data collection, assimilation, and management for engineering work
Engineering calculations are prepared using defined procedures and principles.
Understands and follows budget, timeline, and quality guidelines.

Qualifications Preferred
- BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 2 years of experience carrying out Transmission and System Analysis Studies
- Capability to conduct transmission interconnection studies, reactive power compensation, short circuit (fault) analysis, and circuit breaker rating analysis
- Capability to develop textual communication independently and to allow coordination with team members and clients.
- Capability to collaborate in a team environment
- Capability to lead projects, including project scheduling, budgeting, and staffing.
- Knowledge of NERC standards such as TPL, MOD, and PRC
- Knowledge of ISOs such as PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, CAISO, ISO-NE, and NYISO
- Knowledge of Software Products:
- PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, TARA Load Flow and Stability Analysis Short Circuit & Relay Coordination - Aspen Oneliner and PSS CAPE Line Impedance - Aspen Line Constants and Aspen Line Database Analytics and Scripting - Python
